CAT CASTRATE RECOVERY

WHAT TO EXPECT FOLLOWING AN ANAESTHETIC AND SURGERY

  1. Your pet will be returned to you fully conscious but still may feel drowsy and sleep for the rest of the evening
  2. A small light meal may be offered in the evening. Normal diet may be resumed the following day unless you have been instructed otherwise
  3. The clipping of fur at the site of intravenous injections and surgery is routine; expect the fur to re-grow in 6 - 8 weeks
  4. A slight discharge from a wound is normal over the first few hours, however is there is excessive bleeding, discharge, redness or extreme lethargy please telephone the surgery for advice
  5. If your cat has been given medication follow the instructions and complete the course even if your cat appears to be better
  6. Please keep your cat indoors for 48 hours, telephone us if you have any concerns
  7. Following a routine castration there are no stitches to be removed
  8. BLOOD TEST RESULTS (if applicable) – a copy of the results is attached for your records.
